What is the Northvaal Sailing Association
It is an association of sailing clubs and
classes of sailing boats in the Northvaal region.
Where is the Northvaal Region?
Political definition :
- the region incorporating the provinces of Gauteng, Mpumalanga, North West and
- Northern Province, the Vaal Dam and Vaal River areas.
Geographic definition :
the region within the boarders of the Republic of South Africa and :
- East of 22° 30' longitude,
- North of the Vaal river and it's tributary the Klip river, including all of the Vaal
Dam,
- North of the Drakensburg escarpment between the source of the Klip and Pongola Rivers,
- North of the Pongola River.
What are it's objectives :
To promote, co-ordinate and administer sailing in the Northvaal region.
How is it organised :
Executive Committee.
Is responsible for the overall promotion, co-ordination and administration of sailing in
the region.
It also acts as the South African Sailing (SAS) Regional Committee.
This committee comprises of :
- the Chairman, Vice-chairman, Treasurer and two members who are elected at the AGM,
- the Secretary ( a permanent member of the SAS staff ),
- the Chairmen of the following sub-committees :
- Catermaran, Dinghy, Keelboat, Ladies, Radio Sailing and Youth.
Sub-Committees.
Are responsible for the promotion, co-ordination and administration of sailing in the
region of their particular disipline.
These sub-committees comprise of representitives of sailing Clubs and Classes of boats in
the particular disipline for which the sub-committee is responsible.
These respresetatives annually elect a Chaiman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary for
their particular sub-committee.
